Hi Folks, I'm Nick.
As you may gather by my musings, I am an observer. I like to observe people, culture, interactions and things. My observations are then translated by my brain into something else, usually something exaggerated, to the point where the original observation may be lost in a sea of hyperbole and metaphor and carried-away-ness. I like to use more words than necessary, which allows the tiniest thing to be expanded into the day's biggest moment. And I hope that something that started out as mundane and prosaic becomes noteworthy and entertaining.
My peculiar interests include sport, nature and photography,
music and books. I’ve always loved being outdoors, which lead me to
birdwatching at a young age. My inner geek was revealed, and after a brief
teenage lull I was able to devote myself to the pursuit again, studying zoology
at Uni and ultimately finding work doing bird conservation. Coupled with this, a passion for photography developed over time, which has become
increasingly expensive as the years have passed. The two tend to go hand in hand together.
I have always loved sports – football at first but then tennis and hockey, a sport that I am still heavily involved with as a player, coach and umpire. And when I get a minute to myself, I love to listen to music and read – mostly non-fiction books about my other interests. It's much easier to read about great explorations and live vicariously through others rather than placing myself in mortal danger. But I do like mini-adventures, and enjoy an occasional spot of travel.

And I love cake. But then, who doesn’t?!
